8 Mug Recipes

There are a lot of good things that come in mugs: coffee, tea, hot chocolate. But who would have guessed that you could also make some decadent desserts in that old ceramic mug? Mug desserts have so many great things about them: they’re easy to make, they’re the perfect portion, there aren’t a million dishes to wash after you’re done, and best of all, their DELICIOUS. Here are 8 mug recipes that are sure to satisfy that sweet tooth at home and while camping!

All of these recipes involve simply combining the ingredients in a mug, stirring or whisking until smooth, and microwaving it for the determined amount of time!

Chocolate Chip Mug Cookie
1 Tablespoon Butter (melted)
1 Tablespoon Granulated White Sugar
1 Tablespoon of firmly packed Dark Brown Sugar
3 Drops of Vanilla Extract
Small Pinch of Kosher Salt
1 Egg Yolk (discard the egg white or save for different recipe)
Scant ¼ of All Purpose Flour (slightly less than ¼ of a cup)
2 heaping tablespoons of Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips
Cook in microwave 40-60 seconds.

Mug Brownie
2 tablespoons of butter (melted)
2 tablespoons of sugar
1 firmly packed tablespoon of light brown sugar
¼ teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
Pinch of kosher salt
1 egg yolk
4 tablespoons of flour
1 tablespoon of Hershey’s unsweetened cocoa powder
2 heaping tablespoons of semi sweet chocolate chunks
Cook for about 45 seconds in microwave.

Peanut Butter Mug Cake
4 tablespoons all purpose flour
4 tablespoons white granulated sugar
1/4 tsp baking powder
1 egg
3 tablespoons peanut butter
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons of vegetable oil
Cook for about 1½ minutes in the microwave.

Cinnamon Roll Mug Cake
2 Tbsp applesauce
1 Tbsp vegetable oil
1 Tbsp buttermilk
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup + 1 Tbsp all-purpose flour
2 1/2 Tbsp packed light-brown sugar
3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1 dash ground nutmeg (optional)
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp (scant) salt
Cook for about 1 minute in the microwave. Top with icing!

Red Velvet Cookie
1 Tablespoon Butter
1 Tablespoon Granulated White Sugar
1 Tablespoon of firmly packed Dark Brown Sugar
3 Drops of Vanilla Extract
Small Pinch of Kosher Salt
1 Egg Yolk (discard the egg white)
2 Tablespoons of flour
2 Tablespoons of Red Velvet Cake Mix (I used Duncan Hines Premium Red Velvet Mix)
Cook for about 1 minute in the microwave. Top with powdered sugar!

Cookies and Cream Cake
5 1/2 tbsp flour
4 tbsp sugar
1/8 tsp baking powder
1 egg
3 tbsp milk
3 tbsp oil
2 oreos
Cook for about 1½ minutes in the microwave. Top with hot fudge and whipped cream!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons peanut butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons flour
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon baking powder
3 tablespoons chocolate chips
Cook for 1-2 minutes in the microwave.

Peppermint Mocha Cake
4 tbsp all purpose flour
4 tbsp sugar 3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 tbsp canola or vegetable oil
3 tbsp buttermilk (regular milk will work just fine)
1 egg, lightly beaten
2 tbsp hot coffee
1/2 tsp mint extract
1 crushed peppermint candy cane, divided
Cook for 2 minutes in the microwave! Top with hot fudge, crushed candy canes, and whipped cream!
