Inside Scoop at Normandy this Winter

Good day Campers!

Thank you all for taking the time to visit our Normandy Farms blog. I would first like to introduce myself before we dive into our topic this week! My name is Dee, and I am the Social Media Manager for Normandy Farms Campground. If you have camped with us before, you have presumably seen me working behind the front desk in our Reception Center. I have worked in the Guest Services portion of the park for about 7 seasons. This past summer, I transitioned into the role of Store Manager, and now added on, Social Media Manager.  I look forward to sharing the numerous facets of the camping industry and our park with you.

With Normandy Farms Campground having one of the longest camping seasons in the New England area, we host over 50,000 guests per season. Our Peak Season team of about 120 team members works enthusiastically to ensure our guest’s needs are met and expectations exceeded.

A great deal of our guests wonder how large our team is in the off season, and what do they do? Well, I am here to give you the inside scoop of winter at Normandy Farms. I talked with a few of our department heads to see how their ongoing projects are coming along and what exciting new things they are bringing to the picnic table for the 2018 season.

In our Reception Center, our Guest Relations Manager, Lisa, as well as myself are utilizing the slower pace of the winter season to update and revamp our team trainings and guides to ensure our Guest Service Representatives deliver 5-star service to you folks! Since about the 1st of the year the phone calls have picked up as our guests are calling for 2018 reservations. We will begin welcoming 2019 reservations on Sunday, March 18th so be sure to mark your calendars!

Inside the gates, I checked in with Sharon, our Recreation Director, who is excited to introduce some new games, entertainment and themed weekends to our extensive list of activities we provide for all ages.

Our Carpenter, Steve, and our Maintenance Manager, Colin along with his winter team, have been braving the cold temperatures over the past few weeks. Don’t worry, they pop into the Reception Center for lunch and a break by the warm fireplace every so often! They are in the last stages of finishing our new Maintenance and Storage buildings, which will move day to day operations from the front entrance of our park, to the back area. In addition, they are working to upgrade some of our site hookups to ensure we have optimal amenities to accommodate all types of camping units.

Our Human Resources Manager, Marcia, has been reviewing applications from candidates for our 2018 camping season.  If you’re interested in working in the outdoor hospitality industry, fill out an application online: https://www.normandyfarms.com/contact/employment/

While we all keep very busy throughout the winter, we look forward to April 1st when we can see some familiar, and new faces! With just 75 days until we open, we hope you, and your families are looking forward to our opening day!

Thank you for reading; from our site, to yours.

-Dee
